According to the Allegheny County Police Department, Rivera-Ramirez, operating a Ford Taurus without a valid license, allegedly fled the scene on foot after the collision. The authorities were able to apprehend him following an investigation, during which it was confirmed that Rivera-Ramirez is not a U.S. citizen and has been living in the country undocumented.
Charges against Rivera-Ramirez include vehicular homicide and driving without a license. In light of his immigration status, the Allegheny County police have notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), directing further inquiries on his legal status to the agency.
