Why the Left Lost
It blows me away that the left cannot understand how they lost the election. The cognitive dissonance is so damned thick you’d have to throw your pickup truck into 4X4 to get through it. How hard is it to understand that folks care more about the cost of milk and eggs (though there is a lot more to it than that)? Folks see their dreams of owning a home drifting away and think it’s unfair. They see abortion as morally wrong and that the most defenseless among us should be protected.
Democrats look at the issues that average blue-collar Americans face and hand-wave them away as if we should be grateful they even tolerate us at all. They spent 4 years of the Biden presidency largely ignoring vast swaths of America; ignoring the concerns we had over trans men competing in women’s sports. They demonize white men- blaming us for all of the ills that plague society.
Well, the joke is on the Democrats. They needed white males and largely failed to get them to vote for Harris. It wasn’t until the end of the campaign that they even tried to reach out, but by then it was too late. The attempt felt disingenuous, with their camo hats and staged photos of Tim Walz holding a shotgun (ironically, he was holding it the same way I’d hold a snake, scared and unsure of how I ended up in this situation). Does anyone remember Harris trying to drink a beer on TV? She acted like someone tried to poison her. Honestly, I doubt she’s even had a beer before considering her reaction. But hey, guys! She owns a Glock so there is that (couldn’t be a 1911 like a real American).
The cherry on top was she didn’t even win the minority vote. Both black and Latino men voted for Trump in record numbers. Who’d have thought that the fake accent Harris put on in places like Atlanta wouldn’t have resonated with Southern black men? (it’s been my experience that Southerners have a bullshit detector that needs to be studied due to its accuracy in correctly picking out anomalies). So, what did the Democrats do? They blamed racism and sexism. They blamed black men for hating women and Latinos for hating black people—two groups they’ve spent years insisting couldn’t possibly harbor any of the “-isms” because of their place on the intersectionality scale.
Given the massive backlash, you’d expect the left to learn. But it appears they haven’t and likely won’t. Now it’s up to team Trump to not screw this up. We’ve built a multiracial coalition of like-minded thinkers, and from here, all we can do is win—if we choose to.
So far, it’s looking good.
