Germany’s left-wing government has finally decided to impose immigration restrictions in response to a surge in migrant murders that gave right-wing party Alternative for Germany a boost in the recent election.

AfD won elections in the state of Thuringia and came in second in Saxony after a Syrian migrant murdered 3 Germans at a festival in Solingen.
Germany is the largest economy in the European Union and the temporary immigration restriction will likely be felt by businesses that use cheap imported labor- something the AfD has rallied against since its inception in 2013.

Officially, the ban begins on September 16 and will last for 6 months. In addition to Austria, Chechia, Poland, and Switzerland, controls will be in place at the borders with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium.
