Trump Names Kash Patel as Nominee for FBI Director
President-elect Donald Trump has announced Kashyap “Kash” Patel as his choice for the next Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director. Patel, a longtime Trump ally and a critic of the agency, has a serious background in national security, counterterrorism, and intelligence. Known for his work exposing the FBI’s surveillance of Trump’s campaign during the Russia investigation, Patel is seen as a deep state wrecking ball and staunch advocate for reform.

Kash's backround
Patel, 44, began his career as a public defender in Florida before transitioning to federal service. His experience includes:
- Federal Prosecutor: Led cases against Al-Qaeda and ISIS at the Department of Justice’s National Security Division.
- National Security Roles: Served as senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council and later as chief of staff to acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller.
- House Intelligence Committee: Advised Rep. Devin Nunes during the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, uncovering unlawful surveillance of Trump’s campaign.
In 2023, Patel authored Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy, critiquing government bureaucracy and corruption.
Deep State's worse Enemy
Andrew McCabe, former deputy FBI director, called the move “terrible for the FBI and the nation.” Others have labeled Patel a “personification of MAGA rage” against the Justice Department and FBI.
Patel has openly voiced his disdain for the FBI’s current structure, stating in an interview that he would “shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it as a museum of the Deep State.”
The fact that Andrew McCabe feels Kash Patel as FBI Director would “disrupt,” “dismantle,” & “distract” the FBI

speaks volumes that Kash is a good pick.

Patel’s appointment is part of a broader strategy by Trump to reshape key institutions, with Pam Bondi, his pick for attorney general, expected to collaborate with Patel on FBI reforms.
If confirmed, Patel will replace Christopher Wray, who has served as FBI director since 2017. Wray would need to resign or be removed for Patel to assume the role.
