The Kremlin announced on Sunday that Russian forces now have seized control of Novohrodivka, a town in eastern Ukraine.

Novohrodivka had a prewar population of about 14,000 and is another feather in the cap of the Russians as they march towards Pokrovsk, a very important strategic city in the Donbas region. Pokrovsk is an important logistical hub, containing many rail and transport assets used by Ukraine.

Although last week on a US-backed Kyiv radio show, a Ukrainian official said that Ukraine’s forces had abandoned Novohrodivka, Ukrainian military officials now say that their troops are maintaining their positions in the region, attempting to repel Russian advances.
Vladimir Putin maintains that the invasion of Kursk has done nothing to repel Russia’s advances in Ukraine, and if anything encourages their efforts throughout the Donbas.
