Brazil’s supreme court has ordered X boss, Elon Musk, to formally name a legal representative for the social media platform within 24 hours or face the site’s shutdown in Brazil.
The Supreme Court Justice of Brazil Alexandre de Moraes has announced that he will shut down X in Brazil within 24 hours unless X censors a number of accounts held by opposition politicians and journalists as well as starting to pay the fines de Moraes has placed on X.

Earlier in August, X announced it would close its Brazil office due to overarching censorship from the South American country.
Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes claims that Musk has not respected official Brazilian legislation or the confidentiality of user’s private information.
X has affirmed that even if the regional office is closed, users will still have access to the platform but authorities now say that X activities may face a national suspension.
