The oil-rich South American country has endured civil unrest since the July 28th election, stemming from Maduro declaring himself the victor over Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia. The democratic opposition, headed by Urritia, has published voting tallies that show he won more than 67% of the national vote.

Western governments, including the US and UK, have condemned the obviously fraudulent victory of Maduro, and in the case of the US, have offered under-the-table amnesty deals to the Venezuelan dictator if he agreed to relinquish power and admit defeat.
The Chief Justice of the Venezuelan court, Caryslia Rodriguez, wrote in her decision that Maduro was in fact the winner and there can be no appeals.
