The Trump campaign emphasized that these threats have escalated over recent months, prompting heightened security measures. Trump himself later commented on his Truth Social platform about the “big threats” on his life from Iran, indicating that while previous attempts by Iran did not succeed, he anticipates further efforts.

This briefing follows other security incidents involving Trump, including the assassination attempt in July 2024 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania where Trump was shot, though no direct Iranian involvement was established in that case. Additionally, earlier in 2024, a Pakistani man with alleged Iranian ties was accused of plotting an assassination, though not specifically targeting Trump.
