The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Saturday morning that they shot down 58 out of 67 Russian Shahad drones in a massive air attack last night.

Ukraine announced that anti-air assets were mobilized in 11 regions across the country. The drones were launched from several border regions as well as from Crimea.
Debris from one of the drones was found next to government buildings in Kyiv; an unusual occurrence for Russian munitions to make it so deep into Ukrainian territory since the capital is defended by scores of air defense systems.

Since the beginning of the war in February 2022, Russia has launched many thousands of missiles and drone attacks at Ukraine, focusing on using cheaper, easier-to-manufacture Iranian-made Shahed drones.

Drones are much more difficult for anti-air defenses to deal with because they emit a much smaller heat signature and can fly much lower to the ground.
