Pennsylvania, Oct 15 (The Real Republic) – Vice President Kamala Harris announced a new plan on Monday aimed at enhancing economic opportunities for black men, a key demographic for the Democratic Party amid concerns about voter turnout in the upcoming election.
The initiative includes several components: providing forgivable business loans for black entrepreneurs, increasing apprenticeship opportunities, and researching diseases like sickle cell that disproportionately affect African American men. Harris also supports the legalization of marijuana and aims to ensure that black men can participate in the emerging cannabis industry. Additionally, she plans to advocate for better regulation of cryptocurrency to protect investors.
Harris presented her “opportunity agenda for black men” in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she engaged with local Black men at LegendErie Records and Coffee House, a newly established black-owned business. This initiative seeks to energize African American males at a time when there are fears that some may abstain from voting, potentially impacting the election outcome against Republican former President Donald Trump.
I rarely get offended, but I am OFFENDED by Kamala Harris's agenda for black men

Not only is it degrading, it goes against everything the founding fathers and civil rights leaders fought for.
It's also an attempt to BRIBE black people into voting for her. pic.twitter.com/XqxcyPm23X
During her visit, Harris also held a campaign rally, criticizing Trump for remarks suggesting that military intervention might be needed to handle domestic unrest during the election. This comes after former President Barack Obama recently commented on the lack of enthusiasm among some Black men regarding the prospect of a woman president.
To further bolster support among male voters, Harris’ campaign has formed “Hombres con Harris,” which translates to “Men with Harris.” This effort aims to engage Hispanic male voters and includes plans for gender-specific events such as “Black Men Huddle Up” gatherings, featuring African American male celebrities.
While black Americans largely supported Biden in the 2020 election, Harris has been hemorrhaging their support to Trump, especially black men
Trump is also making efforts to appeal to black and Hispanic voters by hosting roundtables with entrepreneurs and participating in a town hall with Univision. His campaign has included racially charged messaging, suggesting that illegal immigration harms job prospects for black and Hispanic Americans.

Harris’ pandering proposals include a commitment to distribute 1 million forgivable loans, each up to $20,000, to black entrepreneurs through partnerships with community leaders and banks. She also aims to incentivize black men to enter the teaching profession, as statistics indicate they represented just over 1% of public school teachers in 2020-21.
Additionally, Harris plans to expand federal programs that forgive educational loans for public service to encourage more black male teachers and collaborate with organizations to increase apprenticeships and credentialing opportunities in black communities.

Harris has also been advised to highlight cryptocurrency as a means to attract male voters. She proposes a regulatory framework to protect investors in digital assets, which are popular among black men.
Moreover, she pledged to create a national initiative aimed at better funding for research and treatment of health issues disproportionately affecting black men, such as sickle cell disease, diabetes, and prostate cancer.
