This morning, Houthi rebels in Yemen fired a hypersonic ballistic missile that traveled nearly 1,300 miles and exploded over central Israel. This is the first time the Iran-backed terrorist group has been able to send ordnance that far into Israeli airspace.

Israeli officials announced that the missile most likely disintegrated in the air, thanks to Israel’s Iron Dome. Fragments of the ordnance landed in empty fields and near a train station. No casualties were reported.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will inflict a “heavy price” on the Houthis for the attack.

Netanyahu referenced the Hodeida Port retaliation—a port in northern Yemen under Houthi control that IDF forces struck in July after a Houthi drone strike in Tel Aviv killed a man and injured four.
Israel also announced that 40 rockets were launched from Lebanon Sunday morning; these were either shot down or landed in open fields. No injuries were reported.
