In northern Sao Paul, Brazil, uncontrolled wildfires are decimating sugarcane fields so severe that Brazilian authorities are restricting outdoor activities.

Many highways are closed due to severely reduced visibility and social media is filled with footage of livestock carnage, succumbing to smoke inhalation and direct exposure to the fires.

Fires are uncontrolled as the dry season continues, with high temperatures and little moisture on the ground.
Nearly 40 cities in the region remain on “high alert” as the raging fires spread to surrounding areas.
The Governor of Sao Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas has created an emergency task force to deal with the emergency, allocating funds to use fire department air assets to dump water on affected areas.
