Mexican President Agrees to Halt Immigration
President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has agreed to stop migrant caravans and curb human trafficking into the U.S.
With almost 2 months to go before President Trump takes office, he has done more to secure the border(s) than Biden/Harris have done in nearly 4 years. “I had a great conversation with President Sheinbaum,” Trump said. “She has agreed to stop migration through Mexico and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border. We also discussed ways to address drug trafficking and U.S. consumption. It was a very productive conversation!”
Trump had recently threatened tariffs on Mexico and Canada if they didn’t act to curb illegal immigration and the drug trade. Sheinbaum responded quickly, outlining plans to prevent migrants from reaching the border. She also pointed out that many migrants have been granted entry appointments under the Biden administration.
As part of his plan to address the fentanyl crisis, Trump pledged a large-scale U.S. awareness campaign to highlight the drug’s dangers. “Millions of lives are being destroyed. By the time the campaign is over, everyone will know how horrific this drug is.”
Sheinbaum assured Trump that measures are in place to stop migration immediately, with cooperation from Mexico to support stricter U.S. border control policies.
