AOC Claims Not Letting Men Use Women’s Bathrooms Endangers Women
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has criticized a new policy that prohibits men from using women’s restrooms on U.S. Capitol grounds, describing it as harmful and dangerous. Speaking outside the Capitol, Ocasio-Cortez stated that the policy “endangers girls of all kinds” and dismissed it as politically motivated. “It’s disgusting, and everybody, no matter how you feel on this issue, should reject it completely,” she said.
.@AOC you're gross. There is no such thing as women and girls of 'all kinds.' There are only females and males, and males 'of all kinds' have no place in female spaces. Period. pic.twitter.com/lFXQle4Fry

The policy, initiated by House Speaker Mike Johnson in coordination with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), was enacted on Wednesday. It mandates sex-segregated bathrooms across Capitol facilities. Mace had announced plans to introduce similar legislation earlier in the week, citing concerns about safety and privacy in response to the election of Delaware’s incoming transgender Representative Sarah McBride.
Ocasio-Cortez accused Mace of leveraging the issue for political fundraising and claimed the policy jeopardizes women and girls rather than protecting them. “They’re not doing this to protect people. They’re endangering women, they’re endangering girls of all kinds,” she said.

The resolution has drawn sharp reactions from progressive lawmakers and transgender rights advocates. While some expressed outrage, McBride, the first openly transgender member elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, struck a more measured tone. In a statement, McBride said she disagrees with the policy but will prioritize addressing “more pressing issues affecting the country.”
Rep. Mace, who is a rape survivor, has been vocal about her support for sex-segregated restrooms, citing safety concerns as her primary motivation
