Jerusalem, Oct 19 (The Real Republic) – A Hezbollah drone launched from Lebanon exploded in the central seaside town of Caesarea early Saturday, targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence. Fortunately, neither Netanyahu nor his wife were at home, and no injuries were reported.
Netanyahu’s office confirmed the attack after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that a building in the upscale area, known for its luxury villas and historical sites, had been struck. It’s unclear if the residence sustained any damage.

The IDF reported that the drone was one of three fired from Lebanon, with the other two successfully intercepted. They are investigating the incident, which raised concerns about failures in Israel’s warning systems, as no sirens were sounded in Caesarea prior to the explosion.
Residents reported hearing a buzzing noise followed by a loud blast, describing a sense of unease as helicopters were spotted overhead. Although sirens did activate in nearby Glilot, where key intelligence facilities are located, there were no alerts through the Home Front Command’s app or other channels.

One local resident recounted the experience: “We heard helicopters and felt something was happening, but there were no sirens, so we weren’t too worried. Then, suddenly, a large explosion occurred. It was clear this was a serious incident with no prior warning.”
Another resident noted the drone’s buzzing sound before the explosion, emphasizing the shock of the situation given its proximity.
In response to the attack, Netanyahu released videos in Hebrew and English on social media, asserting that “nothing will deter us” and reaffirming Israel’s commitment to winning the war. In his statements, he highlighted recent military successes, including the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, characterizing the ongoing conflict as an “existential war.”
