KYIV, Oct 10 (The Real Republic) – The Ukrainian military reported on Thursday that it had targeted an ammunition depot overnight at an airfield in Russia’s Adygeya region, approximately 450 km (280 miles) from the frontline in eastern Ukraine.
The military is currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by a fire at the facility, as stated in an official announcement.
A source from Ukraine’s state security service (SBU) informed reporters that around 57 Russian combat and training aircraft, including Su-34s, Su-35s, and Mi-8s, were stationed at Khanskaya airfield during the drone attack.

According to the source, “Russia is using this airfield in Krasnodar Krai for refueling and missile and bomb attacks on the units of the Defence Forces and Ukrainian settlements.”
Murat Kumpilov, head of the Adygeya region, mentioned on Telegram that the village of Rodnikovy had been evacuated due to the fire that followed the drone attack, confirming that there were no reported casualties.
Additionally, Ukraine’s military stated it had struck a base in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region late on Wednesday, where Shahed drones are stored. The night before, a Russian weapons arsenal in the Bryansk region, which borders northern Ukraine, was also targeted.

Ukrainian forces have increasingly relied on long-range drones to hit military targets deep within Russia in an effort to limit Moscow’s capacity to conduct air attacks, more than 2-1/2 years into the ongoing conflict.
In recent months, Kyiv has intensified efforts to persuade allies to remove restrictions on using their weapons for long-range strikes against military targets within Russia.
