Durov, a Russian-born tech entrepreneur, was arrested in France earlier this month for Telegram “allowing illicit transactions, child sex abuse images, drug trafficking, and fraud.”

Durov’s legal team maintains that it is absurd to blame him for crimes committed on the platform.
In 2018, Russia pressured Durov to hand over user data but he refused. The act of defiance caused the billionaire to leave his homeland and seek Emirati citizenship.
Russia claims the US is behind the arrest.
