Lebanese officials have confirmed that nearly 500 people have died in the southern part of the country following Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah on Monday.

The most intense bombardment from both sides of the border have been underway for days now- marking almost a year of deadly conflict since the October 7th attacks in northern Israel that left nearly 1200 Israelis dead at an outdoor festival.
Israeli authorities sent an early warning campaign notifying locals in the targeted areas to immediately evacuate or face risking their lives.

Recently, the IDF has been refocusing on targeting Iran-backed Hezbollah (“party of God”) forces in support of Hamas (also Iran-backed).
Targets all over Lebanon include rocket and missile launchers, command and control centers, and other “terrorist infrastructure”.
According to the Lebanese health ministry, it was the highest one-day death count since the country’s civil war nearly 50 years ago.
