According to the Associated Press, Ukraine has total control of the Russian town of Sudzha (pop. 5,000) in the Kursk region.
Responsible for about 3% of European energy imports, Sudzha is a strategically important energy hub. It has a natural gas measuring station used for the Ukrainian oil pipelines in the region. The gas comes from western Siberia and crosses into Ukraine for use and distribution.

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that a Ukrainian command and control center is being set up in the town- although his claim was unable to be verified.

Kursk Governor, Alexei Smirnov ordered the evacuation of neighboring Glushkovo Thursday morning as violence heats up in the region. Reports are that 120,000 Kursk residents have been displaced since the incursion began.
According to Ukrainian reports, about 400 square miles have been taken but Western media is unable to confirm at this time. Russian officials call the attacks “an act of terror” and reinforce the notion that Russians will eliminate the terrorists in a “very brief period of time”.
