Original pieces between 750-2500 words (though exceptional arguments outside this range may be considered)
A clear, evidence-based thesis grounded in facts, data, citations from credible sources, quotes, and/or expert personal observation
Include full citations and attributions for any claims, statistics, or sourced material
Editorial Process:
The Real Republic has a rigorous editing process to ensure accuracy and quality
Submissions will be thoroughly fact-checked; uncorroborated claims may not be published
The editing team will work closely with writers on substantive and stylistic edits to strengthen arguments
A willingness to have your work edited is required; if editing is not desired, please submit elsewhere
Content Guidance:
Provide insightful, novel commentary that goes beyond repeating widely-shared observations
Use past Real Republic pieces as a model for tone, rigor, and focus areas
Have a clear viewpoint and confidently argue your perspective using evidence
Draw insights from your expertise, proprietary research, data analysis, or first-hand experiences
